COMMON OAK IN THE YARD OF THE PUMPING STATION NEAR KUMANE – NATURAL MONUMENT

Intro

This natural monument (Serbian: Hrast Lužnjak u Dvorištu Crpne Stanice kod Kumana) is located along the left bank of the Tisa river in the flood protection zone, 20 m from the embankment, near the pumping station and the settlement of Kumane. The location is in the municipality of Novi Bečej. Its protection was established in 1985, on the area of 14 are.

The old tree of common oak represents a major, to date, the most beautiful registered specimen of its kind in Vojvodina. The oak is over 33 m high, the height of the trunk to the first branches is 3 m, while the volume of the trunk at a height of 1.30 m is 6.80 m. The tree's age is estimated at over 300 years.

Due to its natural and architectural value, this site also has tourism potential for the municipality of Novi Becej.
