"Gólyás ház" (House of Arts)

Intro

The building, located in the heart of the city, next to the Art Nouveau Petőfi Hostel, was built around 1840 and was owned by the city's most fashionable citizens until 1952. It was declared a protected monument in 1968. In the last decade, storks nesting on the extreme chimney have remained loyal to the building, and as a "stork house" they have become known to the public. In 2006, the property was rebuilt by Szentes, a competition with its sister town in Újszentes, Romania, which thus became one of the most characteristic buildings of the city center.
