Intro
Okanj Bara or Lake Okanj in central Banat near Elemir is about 4.5 km long and about half a mile wide. Is characteristic is that it is a salt lake, one of the most important in Europe. Due to the preserved plant and animal species, the lake is surrounded by smaller ones and is part of the Okanjar Bara Special Nature Reserve.
