The Rusanda Special Hospital for Rehabilitation is located in the Rusanda Nature Park, a protected area of the second category. The nature park extends over the territory of the municipality of Novi Bečej and the territory of the City of Zrenjanin. It is surrounded by the settlements Melenci and Kumane. It covers Rusand salt lake with surrounding preserved meadow-steppe and wetland habitats and anthropogenicaly altered habitats, as well as the park of the Rusanda Special Hospital for Rehabilitation. The national importance of the area is confirmed by its inclusion in the national ecological network. The habitats of Pannonian salt steppes and marshes are the potential areas of the Natura 2000 ecological network of the European Union. The nature park is characterized by significant biodiversity of plants and animals, predominantly birds.
