Intro
The City Museum in Bečej was founded in 1953, and the following year the Art Colony of Bečej was formed. As a result of its activity in 1956, a gallery was established at the museum, and on that same year the official name of this institution was the Municipal Museum and Gallery of Bečej. It got its current name in 1990. The City Museum of Bečej is a homeland museum institution of complex type covering the municipality of Bečej. It contains an ethnological, artistic, applied art, numismatic and nature collections, with about 10,000 items.
