THE NATIONAL LIBRARY – NOVI BEČEJ

Intro

The National Library is located in Novi Bečej. The first libraries (called Kasina) were founded in 1838 with books in Hungarian, German and Serbian. Until 1956, a number of libraries (Kasina) in the Hungarian and Serbian languages existed in Novi Bečej, when the collections of libraries got unified. In 1989, the library was given its own building. Due to the rich and extremely important homeland material (including about 700 old posters – in both languages), a new building was added a few years ago, in which one part is a native collection.
