PULAI FAMILY CHAPEL WITH CALVARY AT THE CATHOLIC CEMETERY – NOVI BEČEJ

Intro

The chapel of the Pulai family was built at the end of the XIX century. It is a one-nave structure of harmonious proportions, conceived in the Gothic spirit with a bell above the entrance and a semicircular apse on the opposite end. The chapel is a part of the calvary consisting of 14 chapels (stations) in which the the suffering of Christ is depicted in bas-relief. This is a rare example of the preserved calvary, one of many that used to be present throughout Vojvodina, and it belongs to a series of sacral buildings of the Catholic and Protestant confessions formed in this area from the mid-nineteenth century to the First World War.
