Hemp Factory

Intro

The industrialhemp factory of Nagylak was founded in 1905 by the Pannonia industrialHemp and Linen Company. The old factory consisted of three buildings: the industrialhemp manufacturing plant, the flax processing unit and the spinning plant. The Swabians from Bács County were invited to the hemp cultivation. Soaking was done by using the water of the living water channel that passed through the factory. The soaked hemp was broken and banned in the fiber making plant. Five families were introduced from Bulgaria for the cultivation of flax. First they and then the Slovak workers from the nearby settlements performed the soaking and processing of the flax. The necessary industrialhemp was produced in the farms of the neighboring villages and was transported from below to Szabolcs-Szatmár county. Most of the hemp was processed in the factory's spinning plant.

The factory was nationalized on March 30, 1948. First, the fiber maker and the spinning department were also attached to the South-Hungarian Fiber Maker Company. On December 1, 1953, he became an independent factory under the name of  industrialHemp Factory of Nagylak.
